The final make-up day for inclement weather is scheduled for May 26, 2014.

Welcome to Byrd Elementary, Home of the Excellent Eagles!
Parent Survey
Aiken County Public School District is asking parents to take part in a Parent Survey as part of its upcoming AdvancED accreditation process.  Outside experts will visit our district in November to examine our current process for continuous improvement.  Part of this process is gathering feedback from our parents.  Our goal is to have as many parents as possible take our district's online survey so that we can gather reliable data on our system. Your responses to this survey will be anonymous, so your honest opinion is appreciated.
Thank you for your time and attention to this matter.
J. Russell Gunter, Principal

** Parents - you can submit the final page of the survey for your child to receive a Free Homework Pass.  Simply print or save a copy of the last page of the survey and have your child return it to his or her teacher.**

Character Education
The Character Education word for the month of April is HUMILITY, the animal is the SCHOOL of HERRING, and the color is PURPLE.  Humility is "putting others first by giving up what you think you deserve."

New Security Procedures

This message is to inform all of our parents of a new safety procedure for our school:

As part of our school’s security procedures, a camera and access button have been installed at the front door office entrance.   Anyone visiting our school in the future for meetings, late arrival, or early pick up will have to press the access button on the camera to request permission to enter the building. This new camera and buzz-in procedure is another step in providing a safe learning environment and protection for all our students. Please work with the front office staff as we assist you in learning how to use this new equipment.

This new procedure will begin the morning of Wednesday, January 8, 2014.

Thank you for your continued support of Byrd Elementary as we work together to help our students learn and grow in a safe school environment.

Thank you.
